Барак Обама стал первым президентом Соединенных Штатов, который сфотографировался для обложки журнала ЛГБТ-сообщества, пишет The Washington Times, передает 112.ua.

Номер журнала Out Magazine посвящен 100 самым влиятельным людям сообщества, на обложке журнала под фотографией Обама называется "союзником, героем и иконой".

"Когда мы говорим о проблемах ЛГБТ-сообщества, мы подчеркиваем важность универсальных прав человека — права на свободу выражения мнения, общения и мирных собраний, а также о важности отсутствия насилия и дискриминации, и важности равенства перед законом", — заметил президент в интервью.

Он ответил на критику тех, кто считает гомосексуальность навязанной извне и находящейся вне контекста культуры Соединенных Штатов. Обама подчеркнул, что представители ЛГБТ всегда присутствовали во всех слоях общества, а защита прав человека является универсальной ценностью.

Обама добавил, что его дочери Саша и Малия — это то поколение, которое полностью должно избавиться от предрассудков.
