Як інформує газета, на утримання Обами буде витрачено більше, ніж на попередніх президентів.

Зазначається, що за утримання Джорджа Буша-старшого американці заплатять 942 тисяч доларів, а Джиммі Картера - 456 тисяч доларів.

Дані виплати здійснюються відповідно до закону, прийнятого ще в 1950-х роках. У них входять пенсії екс-президентів, а також забезпечення офісу і зв'язку.

Утримання охорони екс-лідерів США не входить до цих витрат. Імовірно, безпека президентів обходиться в десятки мільйонів доларів.
