Президент США Барак Обама вскоре примет участие в первичных выборах среди претендентов-демократов, но пока не скажет, за кого из них он отдаст свой голос, сообщил пресс-секретарь Белого дома Джош Эрнест, уточнивший, что Демократическая партия проводит праймериз в родном штате Обамы – Иллинойсе – 15 марта, передает ТАСС.

Борьбу за выдвижение официальным кандидатом демократов на президентских выборах 8 ноября продолжают бывшая госсекретарь США Хиллари Клинтон и сенатор от штата Вермонт Берни Сандерс.

"Сейчас мы не планируем публично говорить о предпочтениях президента, – сказал Эрнест. – Однако скоро он примет решение, если он уже его не принял, и я не исключаю, что когда-нибудь в будущем мы об этом расскажем".

Пресс-секретарь уточнил, что Обама будет голосовать по открепительному талону, то есть не поедет в свой родной Чикаго, а останется во время праймериз в Иллинойсе в Вашингтоне.

Как сообщалось, демократ Берни Сандерс и республиканец Дональд Трамп по предварительным данным побеждают на праймериз в штате Нью-Гэмпшир.
