Накануне выборов мэра в немецком Кёльне вооруженный ножом мужчина напал на одного из кандидатов. Как сообщается, независимый кандидат Генриетта Рекер госпитализирована с ранением в области шеи, сообщает ВВС.

Нападение произошло, когда Рекер занималась агитацией в центре города. Преступник напал на неё, когда она подошла к стенду партии христианских демократов канцлера Ангелы Меркель, которая поддерживает её наряду с двумя другими партиями.

В последовавшей потасовке были ранены еще четверо человек, один из них серьезно, но преступник был обезврежен.

Сейчас нападавший находится в полиции. Его имя и возможные мотивы не разглашаются.

Нынешний мэр города Юрген Ротерс заявил, что глубоко шокирован происшедшим. Основной конкурент Рекер на выборах, социал-демократ Йохен Отт, приостановил свою кампанию, узнав о происшедшем.
