Министр обороны Великобритании, сэр Майкл Фэллон, подал в отставку, признав, что его поведение в прошлом не соответствовало стандартам, принятым среди военных.

Источники Би-би-си говорят, что его решение не связано с новыми или сколько-нибудь конкретными жалобами в его адрес.

В последние дни в британском Парламенте широко обсуждалась традиционно процветавшая там культура сексуальных домогательств.

"В последние дни всплыл ряд утверждений о членах парламента, в том числе и о моем прошлом поведении. Многие из них ложны, но я признаю, что в прошлом я не соответствовал высоким требованиям, которые мы возлагаем на Вооруженные силы, которые я имею честь представлять", - говорится в заявлении Фэллона об отставке, обнародованном канцелярией премьер-министра Великобритании.
