Компанія Meta виплатить президентові США Дональду Трампу 25 мільйонів доларів для врегулювання позову 2021 року щодо призупинення його акаунтів у фейсбуці та інстаграмі. Про це повідомила газета The Wall Street Journal з посиланням на ознайомлене з угодою джерело.

З них 22 мільйони доларів передадуть на фонд президентської бібліотеки Трампа, а решту — на покриття юридичних витрат.

Водночас, за даними джерел, Meta не визнає провини.

«Це схоже на хабар і сигнал кожній компанії, що корупція — це назва гри. Після того, як Meta заплатить за гру, чого очікує Марк Цукерберг як повернення цих інвестицій?» — вважає сенаторка штату Массачусетс Елізабет Воррен.

Нагадаємо, компанія Meta заблокувала Трампа після штурму Капітолія 6 січня 2021 року. Спершу його заблокували на 24 години, але менше ніж за добу компанія оголосила бан безстроковим.

У червні 2021 року за рекомендацією наглядової ради Meta заявила, що перегляне блокування через два роки та оцінить ризик для громадської безпеки від відновлення акаунту Трампа.

У липні 2024 року Meta зняла обмеження з облікових записів президента США Дональда Трампа у фейсбуці та інстаграмі, заявивши, що хоче забезпечити рівний доступ кандидатів для політичного самовираження перед виборами 2024 року.
