Видеоролик стал не первым поздравлением Mercedes-Benz. Ранее компания сообщила о том, что дарит всем сотрудникам BMW бесплатный вход в музей Mercedes в Штутгарте с 8 по 13 марта. Кроме того, Mercedes пообещала выделить сотрудникам, которые ездят на BMW, специальные места для парковки, поближе к входу.
7 марта BMW отпраздновала свое 100-летие, именно в этот день в 1916 году компания была внесена в торговый реестр. Однако изначально BMW специализировалась на выпуске авиационной техники. Автомобилестроительной компанию BMW можно считать лишь с 1928 года, когда с конвейера завода в Айзенахе сошел первый автомобиль марки - Dixi.
Благодарность конкурентам - один из видов интеллектуального "троллинга" в войне брендов. Он нередко используется и автобрендами: последний подобный пример был в январе 2016 года, когда Nissan "поблагодарил" американских создателей пикапов за вклад в индустрию. При этом японский автопроизводитель продвигал свою модель Titan XD как новый этап в развитии этого типа автомобилей.
