Президент Туреччини Реджеп Таїп Ердоган зявив, що парламент країни найближчим часом може провести обговорення зняття мораторію на смертну кару та повернути цей вид покарання, пишет Новое время

"Дії терористів залишаються без відповіді, тоді як люди вимагають справедливого покарання. Вони вимагають смертної кари і вона може повернутися", - сказав Ердоган, передає Aksam.

Зазначається, що у турецькому суспільстві ідея повернення страти набирає все більшої підтримки.
У соцмережах дедалі популярнішим стає хештег #Idamistiyorum, що означає "я хочу повернення смертної кари".

Заборона смертної кари прописана в конституції Туреччини, внесення змін до якої потребує проведення референдуму.

Як повідомялось, що у ніч на суботу, 16 липня, військові Туреччини зробили спробу військового перевороту. У Стамбулі і Анкарі відбувалися авіанальоти, на вулицю вивели танки. Президент країни Реджеп Ердоган заявив, що основні осередки повстанців ліквідовані.
