Этот шаг является частью инициативы по увеличению уровня поддержки издателей. Кроме того, это также может подтверждать появившиеся ранее слухи о том, что Google намерена запустить собственный новостной сервис, похожий на Apple News+.
 

«Сегодня мы объявляем о программе лицензирования, в рамках которой предусмотрена оплата высококачественного новостного контента, которая будет запущена в конце этого года. Эта программа поможет участвующим в ней издателям монетизировать свой контент», — говорится в сообщении Google.

На данный момент известно, что Google уже заключила контракты с издателями из Австралии, Германии и Бразилии. В рамках новой инициативы компания будет платить издателям за предоставление посетителям доступа к платным статьям на сайтах, для чтения которых необходимо оформление подписки. Известно о заключении контрактов с рядом известных издателей, в том числе Spiegel Group, InDaile и Diarios Associados.

Напомним, ранее Google подверглась критике за то, что не платит издателям за показ фрагментов новостей и другого контента в поисковой выдаче. Особенно сильно такая политика компании критиковалась в Европе. Google заявила, что инвестирует значительные средства для поддержки издателей, а также изучит новые способы взаимодействия с ними. Новая инициатива, похоже, является шагом в этом направлении.
