Британську газету The Daily Mail розкритикували за обкладинку її останнього номеру.

На ній зображено фото першого міністра Шотландії Нікола Стерджен та прем'єр-міністра Великої Британії Терези Мей із підписом: «Forget about Brexit, who won Legs-it!». Тут авторка заголовку використала гру слів, пропонуючи читачам забути про Брекзит та порівняти, у кого з міністрів красивіші ноги, пише Media Sapiens

«Найкраща зброя, яка є у їх розпорядженні? Це шпильки!» - цитує матеріал, присвячений зустрічі Стерджен та Мей, газета The Guardian. Авторка колонки Сара Вайн (Sarah Vine) також написала, що ноги Нікола Стерджен «в цілому більш кокетливі, дражливо закинуті одна на одну... пряма спроба спокусити».

Вперше обкладинку газети опублікували в Twitter. Вона одразу була розкритикована користувачами мережі. Політик з Лейбористської партії Гаррієт Гарман назвала обкладинку газети ідіотською і висловила здивування, як таке можливо в 2017 році. Інший британський політик Іветт Купер написала у своєму Twitter: «Зараз 2017 рік. Рішення цих двох жінок визначать, чи продовжить існувати Сполучене Королівство. І на першій шпальті газети - їх нижні кінцівки. Недоречно». Інший політик Джеремі Корбін також присоромив газету: «Зараз 2017 рік. Сексизм має бути надбанням історії. Ганьба Daily Mail».

Водночас газета, не зважаючи на шквал критики, написала у Twitter, що у змаганні за красивіші ноги перемогла прем'єр-міністр Великої Британії Тереза Мей. Водночас користувачі почали публікувати «фотожаби» на скандальну обкладинку.

Раніше цього року редактори мережевої енциклопедії «Вікіпедія» проголосували за визнання британського таблоїда The Daily Mail «в основному недостовірним джерелом».
