Голові Комітету із закордонних справ США Бенджаміну Кардіну зателефонував невідомий чоловік, який видавав себе за ексміністра закордонних справ України Дмитра Кулебу.

Про це пише The New York Times із посиланням на лист від служби безпеки Сенату та свої джерела.

Минулого четверга, 19 вересня, офіс сенатора отримав електронного листа від начебто Дмитра Кулеби з проханням зʼєднатися з ним через Zoom. Під час наступного відеодзвінка людина виглядала і говорила як Кулеба.

Але у сенатора виникли підозри, коли співрозмовник почав поводитися нетипово, пишуть співробітники служби безпеки Сенату в листі. Зокрема, «Кулеба» ставив «політично забарвлені запитання щодо майбутніх виборів» і вимагав думки щодо чутливих зовнішньополітичних питань — наприклад, чи підтримує сенатор запуск ракет дальнього радіусу дії по Росії.

Сенатор припинив розмову і повідомив про неї керівництво Державного департаменту, яке підтвердило, що він говорив з самозванцем.

  • Це не перший випрадок, коли західним чиновникам телефонують під виглядом українських посадовців. Наприклад, у червні голова МЗС Британії Девід Кемерон став жертвою пранкера, який видав себе за експрезидента Петра Порошенка.
