Шотландские экономисты предполагают, что результаты выборов можно предсказывать при помощи мониторинга запросов в поисковой системе Google, сообщает The Guardian.

Подобная технология уже применялась во время референдума о независимости Шотландии. За пять дней до фактического голосования, экономисты смогли предсказать 45% положительных ответов при помощи анализа количества запросов по Алексу Салмонду, лидеру Шотландской национальной партии.

Профессор университета Глазго Рональд Макдональд объяснил, что для предсказания результата экономисты использовали сложные механизмы, обычно применяющиеся для анализа движений фондового рынка и товарных цен.

Он также добавил, что, несмотря на прошлогодний успех, государственные выборы отличаются от референдума количеством ответов, что затрудняет работу экономистов. Однако сотрудники университета собираются повторить эксперимент на выборах в мае
