Google, Facebook та Apple нещодавно видалили контент від сайту InfoWars, оскільки він продукує неперевірену інформацію. Медіа створило свій додаток, який став вкрай популярним.

Як пише New York Times, у середу програма від InfoWars була першим номером у топі магазину додатків Google Play в Америці.

Серед сервісів новин вона стала третім номером у магазині від Apple. Поміж взагалі усіх додатків у AppStore, InfoWars досягла 49-го місця, обігнавши LinkedIn, Google Docs and eBay.

Цей додаток, який містить новини від апологета «теорій змов» Алекса Джонса (Alex Jones), завантажують по 30-40 тисяч разів на день.

Схоже на те, що блокування цього контенту ІТ-гігантами, збільшило до нього інтерес.

«Це додаток із вкрай нішевим вмістом, і такий стрибок у популярності означає, що він раптово став цікавим для набагато ширшої аудиторії, — каже Джонатан Кей, співзасновник аналітичної компанії Apptopia. — По суті, він більше не нішевий, він став мейнстримом».

Разом з тим, видалення контенту з платформ Apple, Facebook, YouTube та Google зменшило аудиторію для InfoWars. Однак те, що контент цього сайту більше не присутній на платформах компаній, але доступний через додаток у їхніх магазинах, показує неоднозначну структуру ІТ-гігантів.
