Аналіз висвітлення виборів на телебаченні та в національних газетах показує, що лише 14% відомих політиків є жінками.

Про це пише The Guardian із посиланням на результати дослідження, проведеного в Університеті Лафборо (Loughborough University),передає Media Sapiens

Вчені виявили, що у Великій Британії газети та телебачення більше уваги приділяють дружинам лідерів, ніж жінкам-політикам, які беруть участь у кампанії.

Приміром, дружина прем’єр-міністра країни Саманта Кемерон  (Samantha Cameron) згадувалася частіше, ніж голова партії Плайд Кімру – Ліанне Вуд (Leanne Wood) чи очільниця Партії зелених Наталі Беннет (Natalie Bennett).

Доктор Емілі Гармер (Emily Harmer) з університетського центру з дослідження комунікацій каже: «Попри те, що було представлено троє жінок-лідерів партій, одна заступниця голови та кілька високопоставлених жінок-депутаток, висвітлення жінок під час виборів залишилося помітно нижчим, ніж їхніх колег-чоловіків».

За словами експертки, відбулося невелике покращення порівняно з попередньою виборчою кампанією, коли медійна репрезентація жінок була ще нижчою. Однак, згідно з дослідженням, проблема врахування важливої ролі жінок не зникла.

Як пише The Guardian, це дослідження нагадує інше, проведене британською мережею Women in Journalism. Воно було присвячене гендерним упередженням у медіа і також виявило, що чоловіків набагато частіше цитують і зображають у пресі.
