Міжнародна спільнота стривожена збільшенням фінансування Кремлем на трансляцію пропагандистського каналу Russia Today за кордоном.

Про це пише The Guardian з посиланням на екс-главу служби BBC Пітера Хоррокса,повідомляє Укрінформ

На думку Хоррокса, Велика Британія повинна надати додаткове фінансування Всесвітній службі BBC у боротьбі з хвилею промосковської пропаганди у країнах Європи. Оскільки на переконання екс-глави служби BBC, фінансування міжнародного впливу не менш вадливе, ніж військове фінансування.

За словами Хоррокса, російські і китайські державні новинні канали фінансуються краще, ніж Всесвітня служба BBC. А Великобританія і США програють в "інформаційній війні" з Кремлем.

Також він підкреслює, що «інформаційна війна» посилилася саме після військового втручання Володимира Путіна в Україну й обумовлена його ворожим ставленням до Заходу.

За даними The Guardian, російський телеканал Russia Today розпочав мовлення у Великобританії в кінці жовтня 2014 року. Канал отримав назву RT UK, ведучий новин Білл Дод став головним обличчям каналу.

Раніше уряд Росії прийняв проект федерального бюджету на 2015 рік, згідно з яким субсидії каналу Russia Today в 2015 році складуть 15,38 мільярдів рублів. У 2014 році ця сума складала 11,87 мільярдів.
