У Росії впродовж 2014 року «помітно звужувалися» плюралізм ЗМІ та простір для вираження незгоди з політикою влади.

Про це у своєму річному звіті про становище прав людини у світі пише міжнародна правозахисна організація Amnesty International,повідомляє Media Sapiens

«Уряд посилив контроль над основними ЗМІ, які стали помітно менш плюралістичними, - йдеться у тексті доповіді. – Більшість ЗМІ, які номінально не перебували під державним контролем, все частіше вдавалися до самоцензури, практично нікому не надаючи майданчиків для вираження думок, що неугодні владі».

Організація зазначає, що на медіа, які виражали відмінні від загальноприйнятих думки, влада чинила тиск. Це відбувалося у формі офіційних попереджень, зняття з посади працівників та ін. Державні та провладні приватні видання, додає Amnesty International, використовувалися для очорнення політичних опонентів та критиків (в тому числі і неурядових організацій).

Крім цього, автори доповіді констатують, що риторика влади у Росії ставала все більш ворожою щодо України та Заходу.

У тексті наведено приклади утисків російських журналістів, зокрема ситуацію довкола телеканалу «Дождь», який вимкнули з кабельних мереж за опитування про блокадний Ленінград. Крім цього, згадується звільнення головного редактора видання Lenta.Ru Галини Тимченко, блокування видань «Грані.ру» та «Каспаров.ру».
