Британець потрапив до Книги рекордів Гіннесса, відвідавши 42 музеї менш ніж за 12 годин. Тепер йому належить світовий рекорд з кількості відвіданих музеїв за добу.

Бен Мелхем стартував 25 жовтня о 9:03 ранку з Музею Королівського фармацевтичного товариства у Східному Лондоні і завершив “забіг” о 19:58 в Королівській академії мистецтв у центрі міста.

За цей час чоловік встиг відвідати понад 40 музеїв. Серед них і знамениті на весь світ пам’ятки, такі як Музей природної історії, Тауер та Британський музей, і найменший національний музей Великої Британії – Музей сера Джона Соуна.

42-річний Мелхем розповів, що на ідею встановити рекорд його надихнуло читання Книги рекордів Гіннеса разом з дітьми. За його словами, після обговорення, наскільки важко буде побити світовий рекорд, діти кинули своєму батькові виклик і той не зміг їм відмовити.

Британець побив попередній рекорд у 33 музеї, встановлений Суджоєм Кумаром Мітрою та Сварупом Даврані (обидва з Індії) у Делі на початку минулого року.

Тепер Мелхем має на меті побити світовий рекорд за кількістю відвіданих музеїв за рік. Він почав у жовтні 2024 року і станом на січень 2025-го чоловік відвідав вже 85 музеїв. Про свій “марафон” Бен звітує у соціальних мережах.
