Віцепрем'єр-міністр Молдови Крістіна Герасимова заявила, що росія витратила близько 100 мільйонів євро на спроби дестабілізувати президентські вибори в Молдові та зірвати референдум щодо вступу країни до ЄС.

За її словами, російські дії включають дезінформаційні кампанії, дестабілізацію ситуації в країні та підкуп виборців.  Молдова стала полігоном для нових методів впливу, які можуть бути використані в інших країнах. Вона зазначила, що для росії важливо не допустити вступ Молдови до ЄС, оскільки Кремль поширює наратив, що членство в блоці еквівалентне війні.

Віцепрем'єр також зауважила, що вторгнення росії в Україну викликало у молдован страх перед голосуванням за вступ до ЄС. Кремль розглядає прокремлівський уряд у Молдові як важіль впливу у війні з Україною, тоді як російська сторона категорично заперечує звинувачення у втручанні в молдавські вибори.
