З моменту вступу в президентські перегони наприкінці липня Гарріс неодноразово стикалася з критикою за її обмежені взаємодії з пресою. На початку вона здебільшого уникала ЗМІ, включно з офіційними інтерв’ю та розмовами з журналістами поза рамками кампанії.

Відзначалося, що Гарріс-Волз дали менше інтерв’ю, ніж будь-які інші кандидати в сучасній історії.

З того часу Гарріс збільшила свою присутність у ЗМІ, давши інтерв’ю кабельному телебаченню MSNBC у вересні. Інші помітні виступи серед інших включають участь у дискусії з членами Національної асоціації чорношкірих журналістів (NABJ) і розмову з Опрою Вінфрі.

Вранці в неділю кампанія Гарріс оголосила серію інтерв’ю цього тижня, що, як очікується, будуть дружніми, а не надто конфронтаційними. У вівторок планується, що віце-президент з’явиться в «The View, у «The Howard Stern Show» і «The Late Show with Stephen Colbert».
