Консервативний уряд Джонсона запровадив нові правила, які вимагають посвідчення особи з фотографією для голосування, у Законі про вибори 2022 року.

Закон піддався широкій критиці, коли він був представлений. У 2023 році виборча комісія Великобританії попередила, що закон може позбавити права голосувати сотні тисяч людей і особливо вплинути на безробітних або представників етнічних меншин.
