 Джоан Роулінг, авторка “Гаррі Поттера” критикує новий шотландський закон про злочини на ґрунті ненависті,  заявивши, що «свободі слова та переконань» прийде кінець, якщо буде заборонено точний опис біологічної статі.  Про це повідомляє BBC.

 У законі вказується про злочини «розпалювання ненависті» через вік, інвалідність, релігію, сексуальну орієнтацію, трансгендерну ідентичність або інтерсексуальність. Але закон не захищає жінок як групу від ненависті.

 Роулінг написала: «Шотландські законодавці, схоже, надають більшого значення почуттям чоловіків, які втілюють свою ідею жіночості, ніж правам і свободам реальних жінок і дівчат».

Письменниця нагадала про деякі кримінальні справи, у тому числі трансгендерних ґвалтівників Айли Брайсон та Ендрю Міллера, які викрали та напали на дівчину
