 Ексгубернатор Нью-Джерсі Кріс Крісті припинив боротьбу за висунення в президенти США від республіканців. Це може підвищити рейтинг ексгубернаторки Південної Кароліни Ніккі Гейлі, що дасть їй змогу зрівнятися з Дональдом Трампом на праймеріз у Нью-Гемпширі чи навіть обійти його. 

Зараз Трампа підтримують 39% ймовірних республіканських виборців у штаті, тоді як Гейлі має 32%.

 Нью-Гемпшир першим проводить праймеріз серед інших штатів — 23 січня 2024 року, і таким чином здебільшого визначає тренд підтримки кандидатів у США загалом. Переможці у праймеріз у цьому штаті зазвичай отримують більшу увагу всіх американців, а також більше фінансових вливань від донорів на їхню подальшу виборчу кампанію.
