Невідомий британець поставив 1 млн фунтів ($ 1,29 млн) на перемогу кандидата від Демократичної партії Джо Байдена на виборах президента США. Відповідну ставку зафіксувала британська букмекерська контора Betfair. Про це повідомляє CNN Business.
 
Відзначається, що це найбільша для букмекерів ставка на перемогу політика і третя найбільша ставка в принципі.
 
Ставка майже вдвічі перевищила попередній рекорд для політичних подій: у 2016 році клієнт Betfair поставив 555 тис. фунтів на перемогу Дональда Трампа. Зацікавлена у вигоді особа в разі перемоги Байдена на виборах отримає 1,54 млн фунтів (понад $ 1,98 млн з урахуванням суми ставки).
 
Ставки на результати виборів у США стали популярними у Великобританії на тлі відсутності великих спортивних заходів через пандемію коронавірусу. Букмекери приймали ставки, зокрема, на номінації кандидатів від партій.
