С 16 по 21 марта в нескольких провинциях прошел неофициальный референдум, на который организаторы вынесли вопрос «Хотите ли вы, чтобы регион Венето стал независимой суверенной республикой?». Голосовать можно было через интернет, по телефону или на специально организованных участках. Участвовали в голосовании только зарегистрированные избиратели, пишет Slon.

В итоге из 3,7 млн в референдуме приняли участие 2,36 млн. Из них 2,1 млн проголосовали за независимость, 260 тысяч – против. Это значит, что 56% от общего числа всех, кто мог голосовать, считают, что Венето следует отделиться от Италии. В Венето входят следующие провинции: Венеция, Тревизо, Падуя, Виченца, Верона, Беллуно и Ровиго.

Никакой юридической силы референдум, естественно, не имеет, по сути это просто опрос общественного мнения. Но теперь у сторонников независимости есть сильный аргумент. Законопроект об официальном референдуме сейчас как раз лежит на рассмотрении в законодательном собрании региона.

Венецианская республика независимо существовала более тысячи лет и вошла в состав Италии при Наполеоне, в 1797 году, после непродолжительной войны, потеряв при этом часть своих земель в пользу Австрии, Франции и Италии (тогда – Цизальпинской республики).
