Одна із сенаторів-республіканців заявила, що її однопартійці можуть розпочати імпічмент проти колишнього віцепрезидента США Байдена, тільки-но він переможе на президентських перегонах.
 

Про це повідомляє Голос Америки.

"Республіканці можуть розпочати процес імпічменту новообраного президента, якщо ним стане Джозеф Байден, - про це заявила сенаторка від Республіканської партії Джоні Ернст", - ідеться в повідомленні.

Як зазначається, за словами Ернст, підставою для імпічменту Байдена стане той факт, що, коли він був віцепрезидентом США, "його призначили викоренити в Україні корупцію, а він натомість закрив очі на компанію Burisma, тому що його син був у наглядовій раді компанії...".

"Гадаю, двері до можливості оголосити імпічмент відкрились… У нас може скластися ситуація, якщо коли-небудь Байден стане президентом, тоді негайно відразу після того, як його оберуть, люди скажуть: що ж, ми оголосимо йому імпічмент", - цитує сенаторку видання.

Своєю чергою речниця Байдена заявила, що ці слова тільки надихнуть демократів голосувати за нього.

Як повідомлялося, республіканці в Сенаті США скористалися своєю більшістю, аби заблокувати виклик додаткових свідків та документів, на чому наполягали демократи в процесі імпічменту президента Трампа.

Вирішальне голосування щодо імпічменту Сенат проведе в середу.
