Действующая глава администрации Тайваня Цай Инвэнь во второй раз одержала победу на выборах.

Как сообщает Интерфакс, ее Демократическая прогрессивная партия (ДПП) получила 61 место из 113 в Законодательном Юане — парламенте острова.

Отмечается, что это на семь мест меньше, чем в парламенте предыдущего созыва.

Основной соперник ДПП — партия Гоминьдан — получает в Юане 38 мест, на три места больше, чем по итогам выборов 2016 года. Главу администрации выбирали 19 млн избирателей Тайваня.

Им предстояло сделать выбор из двух кандидатов: нынешнего руководителя Цай Инвэнь, и Хань Гоюя — выдвиженца от партии Гоминьдан. Цай Инвэнь, которая возглавила Тайвань в мае 2016 года, выступает за провозглашение независимости острова.

Хань Гоюй, мэр города Гаосюн, известен как сторонник более тесных отношений с материковым Китаем.

Он считает, что только они могут обеспечить безопасность и процветание тайваньского населения.
