Британский парламент принял закон о проведении досрочных парламентских выборов 12 декабря 2019 года.

На прошедшем во вторник, 29 октября, голосовании эту инициативу поддержали 438 депутатов, еще двадцать парламентариев высказались против нее, передает DW.

Теперь это постановление должно пройти Палату лордов, но наблюдатели не предвидят там серьезных проблем для премьера, отмечает ВВС.

Премьер-министр Великобритании Борис Джонсон надеется с помощью досрочных парламентских выборов добиться одобрения нового договора о выходе Соединенного Королевства из состава Евросоюза, согласованного им ранее с Брюсселем.

Парламент одобрил инициативу премьера Бориса Джонсона со второй попытки. Перед голосованием Джонсон заявил, что досрочные выборы парламента являются "единственным способом для страны продвинуться вперед".

Незадолго до этого британский премьер вернул во фракцию тори в парламенте 10 из 21 депутата, которых он месяцем ранее исключил из партии за то, что они проголосовали вместе с оппозицией за вынесение на голосование законопроекта, требующего новой отсрочки "Брексита".

В понедельник, 28 октября, Евросоюз согласился на гибкую отсрочку "Брексита" до 31 января 2020 года.
