У неділю в Албанії відбуваються місцеві вибори – вони проходять в умовах напруженого політичного конфлікту влади з опозицією, яка бойкотує голосування.

Про це повідомляє "Європейська правда" з посиланням на Associated Press.

На виборах албанці обирають мерів та міські ради у 61 місті та містечку, а також місцеві парламенти.

Президент Албанії Ілір Мета раніше визнав вибори незаконними, оскільки вважав їх недостатньо конкурентоспроможними, однак уряд під керівництвом прем'єра Еді Рами відмовився виконувати рішення президента.

Опозиція на чолі з правоцентристською Демократичною партією звинувачує уряд у корупції та зв’язках з організованою злочинністю, і вимагає проведення нових загальнонаціональних виборів.

В суботу ввечері лідер Демократичної партії Лулзім Баша закликав албанців бойкотувати голосування і заявив, що виведе людей на ненасильницькі акції протесту. Поліція заборонила протести в день голосування.

Опозиція проводить антиурядові акції протесту з середини лютого, відколи опозиційні депутати відмовилися від своїх місць в парламенті. Вони заявляють, що політична криза буде розв'язана, коли Рама подасть у відставку, а фальсифікатори попередніх виборів опиняться у в'язниці.

Керівні соціалісти є єдиними кандидатами в 35 з 61 округу. В інших проти них виступають кілька менших лівих і правоцентристських партій.
