Британская газета The Guardian отключилась от Facebook Instant Articles и Apple News, пишет Digiday.

В прошлом году The Guardian превратила в Instant Articles все свои статьи. Газета была одним из первых британских пользователей нового формата (весной 2015 года The Guardian и BBC News начали использовать Instant Articles). В октябре 2015 The Guardian оказалась одной из первых участниц программы Apple News. Она также поделилась с Apple всеми своими статьями.

Причина отказа — подведение итогов эксперимента. Главной целью The Guardian было привлечь аудиторию в доверенную зону газеты и затем выстраивать более тесные отношения, конвертируя читателей в членов клуба и спонсоров.

Ни Instant Articles, ни Apple News не помогли достичь этой цели, очевидной для большинства изданий.

В The Guardian рассчитывают достичь миллиона платных подписчиков к 2019 году. Пока газета собрала 200 тысяч регулярных подписчиков и 100 тысяч единоразовых пожертвований.

Интересно, что The Guardian не прекратила работать с Google AMP, через который приходит 60% мобильного Google-трафика газеты.
