Apple повідомила про наявність власного пошукового робота Applebot, який аналізує вміст сторінок в інтернеті, подібно до системи Google, Yahoo чи інших пошуковиків.

Опис Applebot днями з’явився на спеціальній довідковій сторінці сайту компанії. У ньому пояснено, що робот є «пошуковим павуком». Ця інформація корисна передусім для власників сайтів, оскільки тепер їх відвідуватимуть не лише боти Google, Yahoo, Bing чи інших популярних пошуковиків.

На думку автора сайту 9to5mac Бена Лавджоя (Ben Lovejoy), поява Applebot не свідчить про те, що Apple розробляє власний пошуковик. Він міркує, що компанія залишається виробником обладнання, а онлайн-сервіси використовує для підвищення привабливості своїх продуктів. «Скоріше за все, Applebot – це те, чим він і видається: інструмент для підтримки вже наявних пошукових систем, щоб упевнитися що Siri та Spotlight [інтегровані засоби пошуку в Mac OS – MS]показують кращі результати», - пише Лавджой.

Чутки про появу пошуковика  з назвою Apple Search поширювалися у медіа взимку цього року. Приводом до цього стала інформація, що компанія наймає спеціалістів з пошукових технологій.
