В том же посте WYCON ответила на комментарии, указав, что «это придуманные названия, и они немного безумные». Однако ответ не удовлетворил пользователей и бренд решил написать более расширенный ответ. «Мы приносим свои извинения, если пост вызвал такую реакцию. Каждый цвет из коллекции Gel On вдохновлен названиями известных песен, многие из них принадлежат хип-хоп исполнителям». Компания назвала и другие название оттенков лака, которые были вдохновлены песней Снуп Догга Drop It Like It’s Hot, Bootilicious Бейонсе и Lollipop от рэпера 50 Cent. Из-за негативной реакции WYCON Cosmetics обновил вебсайт, на которой оставил только коды лаков Gel On.
Отметим, начало 2018 года уже омрачилось несколькими скандалами вокруг противоречивых решений брендов, включая худи с темнокожим мальчиком от H&M и видео влогера Логана Пола из японского «леса самоубийц».
