Газета The Washington Post сообщила о сотрудничестве ТАСС с российской разведкой в США. В перехваченных переговорах Евгения Бурякова и Игоря Спорышева, обвиняемых американскими властями в шпионаже, упоминается некое агентство новостей. Неназванные американские чиновники заявили The Washington Post, что имеется в виду именно ТАСС,пишет сайт Медуза

Американские чиновники, согласившиеся говорить на условиях анонимности, сообщили, что этой службой новостей был ТАСС — агентство, которое нередко обеспечивало прикрытие сотрудникам КГБ во время холодной войны. На запрос, направленный в ТАСС, не последовало немедленного ответа (англ. яз.).
