Будівельна фірма у місті Галіфікас канадської провінції Нова Шотландія змогла зрушити з місця 220-тонний вікторіанський готель Elmwood. Для цього їй знадобилися два екскаватори та 700 шматків мила.

Будівля, де знаходиться готель, спочатку планувалася як житловий будинок. Її звели 1826. Через 70 років його перетворили на готель. Останнім часом він знову був багатоквартирним будинком. 

У 2018 історичну будівлю вирішили знести, але компанія із торгівлі нерухомості Galaxy Properties викупила її у міста. У компанії вирішили перенести колишній готель на новий фундамент. Його поставлять біля нової житлової 9-поверхівки, яку планують звести поруч.

Будівлю протягнули близько 10 м за допомогою двох екскаваторів та вантажівки зі стропами. Аби будівля сковзнула по спеціальній рамі, будівельники використали 700 брусків мила Ivory. Воно особливо м’яке та забезпечує плавний рух, каже власник компанії Шелдон Раштон. Будинок дуже крихкий, тож треба бути дуже обережним, додає він. 

У майбутньому, коли будівництво фундаменту нової будівлі завершать, Elmwood посунуть ще на чотири метри.
