Лідер Лейбористської партії та чинний прем’єр-міністр Мальти Джозеф Мускат заявив про перемогу на дострокових виборах, які він оголосив минулого місяця на тлі офшорного скандалу.

Про це повідомляє Reuters.

За повідомленнями провладної преси, керівна Лейбористська партія очікує отримати на виборах майже 55% голосів виборців, повідомляє Times of Malta, у той час як їхні головні опоненти, Націоналістична партія Мальти, - 44% голосів. Утім, офіційний підрахунок голосів ще триває.

"Люди чітко вирішили залишитися на шляху до ще кращих результатів", - прокоментував вдалі для нього підсумки прем’єр-міністр Джозеф Мускат.

Лідер Націоналістичної партії Мальти Сімон Бусуттіл у своєму Twitter визнав поразку.

"Я щойно зателефонував Джозефу Мускату, щоб визнати поразку. Як завжди, ми поважаємо рішення виборців", - зазначив Бусуттіл.

Завдяки перемозі лейбористів чинний прем’єр Джозеф Мускат зможе залишитися на своїй посаді на другий термін.

Нагадаємо, Мускат оголосив про дострокові вибори на тлі офшорного скандалу Panama Papers.

Його дружину звинуватили в тому, що вона нібито очолювала офшорну кампанію, яка отримувала гроші від правлячої родини Азербайджану під час отримання ліцензії банком Азербайджану на Мальті. Мускат усі звинувачення відкидає.
