Ця незвичайна тварина - гусениця фланелевого метелика Megalopyge opercularis. Дослідники, які зіткнулися з цією істотою, охрестили його Trumpapillar - від слів Трамп і Caterpillar (тобто гусениця).

"Я натягав чоботи, і хтось сказав: "Ей, перевір цю гусеницю! Це ж волосся Трампа висить на гілці!", - розповідає автор знімка Джефф Кремер.

За його словами, місцеві жителі називають цю істоту "ovejillo", що означає "маленька овечка". Незважаючи на таку милу назву, контакт з гусеницею може бути небезпечним: її волосся має маленькі гачки, які впиваються в шкіру і можуть викликати свербіж і сильний біль на цілий день.
