В Туркменистане сегодня, 12 февраля, начались всенародные выборы президента, сообщает Синьхуа.

Согласно сообщению, с 07:00 до 19:00 по местному времени на всех избирательных участках пройдет голосование, в ходе которого будет избран президент страны.

По состоянию на 09:00 проголосовали 823 тыс. 257 человек, что составляет 25,5% от всех избирателей.

На высший государственный пост претендуют девять человек. Демократическая партия выдвинула действующего президента Гурбангулы Бердымухамедова, Партия промышленников и предпринимателей - председателя правления Акционерного коммерческого банка "Рысгал" Бекмырата Аталыева, а Аграрная партия - председателя Марыйского велаятского комитета Аграрной партии Дурдыгылыч Оразова.

Кроме того, шесть кандидатов выдвинуты инициативными группами граждан.

При этом отмечается, что в стране открыты 2587 избирательных участков, в том числе 39 - за рубежом.

По данным ЦИК, число избирателей составляет 3 млн 228 тыс. 866 человек.
