В Об'єднаних Арабських Еміратах призначили міністра першого в світі міністерства з питань штучного інтелекту.

Міністром новоствореного державного відомства став 27-річний Омар Бін Султан (Omar Bin Sultan Al Olama). Прем'єр-міністр ОАЕ Мохаммед ібн Рашид Аль Мактум (Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum) заявив, що завдяки новій позиції в уряді країна розвиватиме знання, підтримуватиме науку та дослідження.
 
В ОАЕ повідомили, що призначення міністерства з питань штучного інтелекту є частиною прагнення країни бути на передовій глобальної технологічної революції, яка передбачає зокрема й будівництво поселень на Марсі до 2117 року.
 
Нещодавно прем'єр-міністр ОАЕ Мохаммед ібн Рашид Аль Мактум анонсував Стратегію країни зі штучного інтелекту, яка є однією з провідних цілей держави до 2070 року. Вона спрямована на підвищення ефективності роботи уряду, а також створення інноваційного та високопродуктивного середовища завдяки інвестуванню в штучний інтелект.

Також серед нових посад в уряді ОАЕ з'являться міністерства передових наук і продовольчої безпеки.

Нагадаємо, нещодавно винахідник та підприємець Ілон Маск, співзасновник Google DeepMind Мустафа Сулейман та 114 інших провідних експертів у галузі штучного інтелекту (artificial intelligence, AI) написали відкритого листа ООН. У ньому вони просять організацію заборонити використання так званих «роботів-вбивць»: безпілотників, автономних кулеметів, танків та інших форми зброї нового покоління, контрольованих АІ.

Ілон Маск уважає, що штучний інтелект є найбільшим ризиком, що загрожуватиме людству у майбутньому. Натомість засновник та генеральний директор Facebook Марк Цукерберг оптимістично налаштований щодо штучного інтелекту. Він вважає, що у найближчі п'ять-десять років  він значно покращить якість людського життя.
