В Іспанії до регіональної асамблеї Валенсії вперше обрали депутатку із синдромом Дауна. ЇЇ обрання вважають прикладом справжньої інклюзії. Про це повідомляє BBC.

Мар Гальсеран вважається першою людиною із генетичним відхиленням, яка "увійшла до європейського регіонального чи національного парламенту".

Її призначення вважають "величезним кроком вперед" і "прикладом реальної інклюзії".

Депутатка займається політикою з 18 років, відколи приєдналася до консервативної Народної партії Іспанії. 

"Суспільство починає бачити, що люди з синдромом Дауна можуть зробити великий внесок", - каже Мар Гальсеран. 

Зазначається, що в розмові з газетою Guardian жінка сказала, що хоче, аби її сприймали як особистість, а не через її інвалідність.

Її призначення вітали колеги-політики та активісти. Карлос Масон, президент регіонального уряду Валенсії, написав у соцмережах: "Чудова новина для політики, подолання бар’єрів".

Також на її обрання відреагували в організації людей із синдромом Дауна в Іспанії: "Ми не чули ні про кого іншого. Це величезний крок вперед і приклад справжньої інклюзії".
