У столиці Еквадору Кіто під час передвиборчого мітингу застрелили кандидата в президенти Фернандо Вільявісенсіо.

 За словами очевидців, пише видання, вони почули, як пролунали постріли, після чого поранений Вільявісенсіо впав.

Загибель кандидата у президенти підтвердив його особистий друг, радник виборчої кампанії доктор Карлос Фігероа. Він розповів, що Вільявісенсіо був убитий трьома пострілами в голову.

"Коли його оглянули, він вже не подавав ознак життя. Його відвезли до клініки, де пізніше підтвердили його смерть", – розповів Фігероа.

Генеральна прокуратура Еквадору повідомила, що в результаті нападу також було поранено дев'ять осіб, у тому числі кандидата в депутати і двох поліцейських

Поліція і прокуратура збирають докази на місці злочину і в медичному центрі, куди були доставлені постраждалі. Поліція розгорнула операцію з пошуку винних у скоєнні злочину.

Видання також пише, що ймовірний виконавець вбивства був важко поранений після перестрілки зі співробітниками служби безпеки, присутніми на місці події.

"Після затримання його спочатку доставили до суду Кіто, а звідти, вочевидь, перевезли до медичного центру, де карета швидкої допомоги засвідчила його смерть", – повідомила газета.
