Ультраправа партія "Ліга", очолювана ексміністром внутрішніх справ Маттео Сальвіні, програла на місцевих виборах в регіоні Емілія-Романья.

Чинний губернатор Стефано Боначіні з Демократичної партії набрав понад 51% голосів, випередивши Люсію Боргонцоні з партії "Ліга", яка отримала трохи більше 43%. Примітно, що явка на виборах зросла на 30% в порівнянні з виборами п'ять років тому.

Багатим північним регіоном Емілія-Романья керували з часів Другої світової війни тільки ліві або комуністичні партії.

В останні два місяці партія "Ліга" вела активну кампанію, а Сальвіні називав голосування на регіональному рівні тестом популярності двох правлячих партій - Демократичної партії і "Руху 5 зірок". Кандидат "5 зірок" отримав на виборах близько 4%.

У неділю також пройшли вибори в південному регіоні Калабрія. Перемогу з результатом 55,71 8% здобула Джолі Сантеллі з консервативної партії "Forza Italia", очолюваної Сільвіо Берлусконі. Вона стане першою жінкою на посаді губернатора цього регіону.

Друге місце зайняв кандидат партії "Ліга" Піппо Калліпо - 30,27%.

Раніше регіоном керував губернатор від Демократичної партії, який минулого року подав у відставку через звинувачення в корупції. Він не балотувався на виборах.
