Українка перемогла з проєктом «Вбиваючи богів», котрий зосереджений на проблемі геноциду, що чинить людина проти природи та тварин. Марія Гайдук — студентка Львівської національної академії мистецтв. Походить з Херсону.
Журі премії «були вражені потенціалом художниці й тим, який вплив має її творчість, що поєднує сміливість із чутливістю», — йдеться у повідомленні Болонського ярмарку дитячої книги.
Виставку ілюстраторів організовують у межах Ярмарку дитячої книжки у Болоньї (Італія), який є провідним ярмарком дитячих книжок у світі. Цьогоріч він відбувається з 31 березня по 3 квітня. Цьогоріч на конкурс надійшло 21,870 робіт. Міжнародне журі відібрало до фіналу 324 художни_ць, серед яких — п’ятеро українських мисткинь, зокрема Марія.
