Попри рекомендації помічників раз на місяць міняти телефон для Twitter, Трампвідмовляється робити це, аргументуючи тим, що це "дуже незручно". Джерела стверджують, що експерти з безпеки не перевіряли телефон президента п'ять місяців. Попередник Трампа Барак Обама передавав свої телефони на перевірку кожні 30 днів.

Ще одне джерело видання запевняє, що телефони для розмов регулярно змінюють. iPhone з Twitter не обов'язково міняти так регулярно, оскільки служба безпеки контролює і його, і акаунт.

У президентському телефоні для розмов відключена функція GPS, щоб переміщення його власника неможливо було відстежити. Джерело запевняє, що наявність там мікрофона і камери при нинішньому рівні технологій не становить загрози прослуховування або підглядання.
