Словацький парламент подолав вето президента Зузани Чапутової і з великою перевагою ухвалив закон, що розширює заборону на публікацію результатів опитування громадської думки до виборів.

Раніше такі публікації були заборонені за 14 і менше днів до виборів, відтепер цифра обмеження становитиме 50 днів.
Тепер президентка оскаржить цей крок у Конституційному суді. Вона також попросить суд припинити застосування закону, оскільки загальні вибори заплановані на кінець лютого 2020 року.
Рішення спричинило різку критику з боку опозиційних партій та політичних експертів, які розглядають його як спробу зменшити популярність нових партій.
В Словаччині, як і в інших країнах Європи, останніми роками спостерігається зростання нових партій. Останній приклад – перемога Зузани Чапутової на президентських виборів у березні. Політичний новачок Чапутова перемогла кандидата від партії влади Smer.
