За даними підконтрольних проросійським сепаратистам засобів масової інформації, Олександр Басов, котрий обіймає посаду так званого міністерства держбезпеки «ЛНР», представники релігійної організації Свідки Ієгови, котрі нині перебувають на тимчасово окупованій території Луганської області, - це «агенти Служби безпеки України». Про це інформує PRпортал. 

За інформацією бойовиків невизнаної республіки,релігійна організація виконувала роль «активного агента впливу СБУ в «ЛНР». Під час проведення обшуку у приміщеннях, які є власністю Свідків Ієгови в Луганську і Алчевську, бойовиками були виявлені матеріали агітаційного характеру, у яких присутня нацистська символіка і атрибутика. Окрім цього, сепаратисти зазначили, що представники організації передала одне зі своїх приміщень в безоплатне користування організації Правий сектор.

У квітні поточного року стало відомо про те, що у Російській Федерації заборонили діяльність релігійної організації «Свідки Ієгови», оскільки, за словами ФСБ, вона займається екстремістською діяльністю.
