В выборах участвуют 7 кандидатов, в том числе одна женщина – Сибель Сибер. Фаворитом же, по данным опросов, является нынешний лидер, ветеран политики Дервиш Эроглу,пишет Еuronews.com

Были подготовлены почти 700 урн для голосования. В организации выборов участвовали около 4 тысяч человек.

Для признания победы одного из кандидатов ему необходимо набрать не менее 50% голосов избирателей плюс один голос. В противном случае пройдет второй тур голосования.

“Голосование имеет важное значение для нашего будущего. Мы выбираем лидера, который будет вести дальнейшие переговоры. Он (или она) будут защищать наши права”.

Передает корреспондент Euronews Бора Байрактар:
“Избирательная кампания была спокойной по сравнению с предыдущими, однако конкуренция на выборах сейчас весьма острая. Выборы являются очень важными: на повестке дня – возобновление мирных переговоров на острове”.
