Обраний президент США Дональд Трамп звинуватив ЗМІ у спробі представити його ворогом американських спецслужб.

Зокрема, про це Трамп написав у своєму Twitter:

"Нечесні ЗМІ люблять повторювати, що я заодно з Джуліаном Ассанжем - це неправда. Я просто кажу те ж саме, що стверджує він. ЗМІ виставляють мене противником розвідки, але насправді – я великий її шанувальник!" - написав Трамп

7 жовтня 2016 року адміністрація Обами офіційно звинуватила Росію в масштабній кампанії з втручання у вибори президента США.

Зокрема, Росію вважають причетною до зламу серверів Демократичної партії США з метою опосередковано вплинути на результат виборів. Глава Національної розвідки Джеймс Клаппер заявив, що спецслужби США отримали переконливу доказову базу того, що за атаками на сервери американських партій стоїть Росія.

29 грудня США ввели стосовно РФ санкції у зв'язку з атаками хакерів під час виборів і видворили з країни 35 російських дипломатів.

Новообраний президент США Трамп не підтримує рішення Адміністрації президента Барака Обами про введення додаткових санкцій проти РФ. У команді Трампа заявили, що не володіють переконливими доказами причетності Росії до кібератак під час президентських виборів.
