Дональд Трамп пропустив підсумкові дебати кандидатів у президенти від Республіканської партії. Їх проводив Fox News. Трамп не прийшов через журналістку телеканалу Мегін Келлі, яку вважає заангажованою. Вона вела дебати разом із двома іншими колегами. Fox News відмовився її замінити.

Сама Мегін Келлі назвала Трампа проблемою, яку воліють ігнорувати (“еlephant in the room”), та запитала решту учасників дебатів, що він хотів сказати виборцям своєю відсутністю?

“Дозвольте мені сказати: “Я божевільний, а решта на цій сцені тупі, товсті і потворні, а Ви, пане Карсон, жахливий хірург”, – спародіював можливу відповідь Дональда Трампа інший кандидат від республіканців та один з його основних конкурентів Тед Круз.

Дональд Трамп у цей час взяв участь в організованому його власним виборчим штабом заході зі збору пожертв для ветеранів війни. За даними, оприлюдненими пошуковиком Google, це, а також той факт, що на дебатах говорили про нього навіть за його відсутності, привернув до Трампа набагато більше уваги глядачів.

Вже у понеділок в Айові відбудуться з‘їзди делегатів провідних партій, на яких висунуть кандидатів у президенти.
