Журналисты французского информационного агентства AFP (Agence France-Presse) объявили избранного президента США Дональда Трампа самым влиятельным человеком 2016 года. Вторую строчку рейтинга занял российский лидер Владимир Путин, третью — президент Турции Реджеп Тайип Эрдоган.

По словам журналистов агентства, «в год, когда общество отвергло традиционные элиты в демократических странах, Трамп смог опередить двух политиков, бросивших вызов Западу».

В десятку самых влиятельных людей также вошли кандидат в президенты США и бывшая госсекретарь Хиллари Клинтон, Найджел Фараж, занимавший ранее должность главы Партии независимости Великобритании, президент Сирии Башар Асад, американский лидер Барак Обама, Папа Римский Франциск, лауреат Нобелевской премии по литературе Боб Дилан и первая леди США Мишель Обама.

Agence France-Presse ежегодно проводит опрос среди сотрудников из разных стран мира. Журналисты выбирают наиболее достойных претендентов из 30 человек.

В 2015 году самой влиятельной персоной по версии AFP была выбрана канцлер ФРГ Ангела Меркель.
