Сенат США в понеділок затвердив кандидатуру Майка Помпео на пост директора ЦРУ.

66 сенаторів підтримали кандидатуру Помпео, 32 - проголосували проти. Відзначається, що практично всі, хто голосував проти, були членами Демократичної партії.

Деякі сенатори побоювалися, що 53-річний Помпео може дозволити використання "розширених методів допитів", які багато законодавців і правозахисні групи в США називають тортурами.

Раніше Помпео заявляв, що згоден з висновками спецслужб про те, що Росія причетна до кібератак під час передвиборної гонки в США.
