Російські та прокремлівські діячі розпочали інформаційну операцію з дискредитації перемоги чинної президентки Молдови Маї Санду на виборах. Про це йдеться у звіті американського Інституту вивчення війни (ISW).

Напередодні стало відомо, що в другому турі виборів чинна президентка Мая Санду перемогла свого опонента, висуванця проросійської Партії соціалістів Олександра Стояногло.

Проросійські опозиційні партії та посадові особи спробували дискредитувати її перемогу. Так, Молдовська соціалістична партія назвала її «нелегітимним президентом», а пов'язаний з Кремлем молдовський олігарх Ілан Шор сказав російському державному телеканалу «Россия-24», що опозиція начебто має «докази» масових фальсифікацій на користь Санду.

Прокремлівський колишній президент Молдови Ігор Додон також заявив кремлівському інформаційному агентству «ТАСС», що Санду перемогла «лише завдяки голосам молдовської діаспори». 

Російські пропагандисти повторили слова проросійської молдовської опозиції про те, що вибори у країні нібито контролювалися «європейськими бюрократами», а громадяни не впливали на результат. 

Раніше Мая Санду неодноразово звинувачувала Росію у втручанні в виборчий процес, хоча Кремль заперечує ці звинувачення. У першому турі, 20 жовтня, президентка заявила про «безпрецедентний» тиск з боку «кримінальних груп», які намагалися підкупити до 300 тисяч виборців, щоб підірвати демократичний процес.
